The property hugs the Blue Ridge Parkway for almost four miles and contains over three miles of unpolluted tributaries of both the North Toe River (French Broad River basin) and the North Fork Catawba River (Catawba River basin). This property and the adjoining Little Tablerock Mountain property are managed as part of the Pisgah Game Land for hunting and other forms of public recreation. Protection of Humpback Mountain was achieved through a collaboration including CTNC, NC Wildlife Resources Commission, NC Clean Water Management Trust Fund, Blue Ridge Forever and the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation.
