Upper Linville Gorge

Conservation Trust for North Carolina

Milepost: 315-316 | County: Burke | Acres: 356 | Hiking: No

This property helps to protect the water quality of one of North Carolina’s most scenic waterfalls, Linville Falls. It contains the last two streams that flow into the river before it crashes over the falls, and is visible from areas near Humpback Mountain, including the Chestoa View Parking Area. The National Park Service estimates that more than 50,000 people visit Linville Falls each year.
Former Superintendent of the Blue Ridge Parkway Dan Brown said, “We were fearful that development of this property would have degraded the water quality and scenic integrity of the Linville River.”
