This property encompasses dramatic forested mountain views along more than four miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, including some of its most popular overlooks including The Loops, Heffner Gap and North Cove. It also includes approximately 1.3 miles of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, the route followed by mountain militiamen during the American Revolution on their way to the pivotal Battle of Kings Mountain. The property connects critical habitat in the Pisgah National Forest to the Blue Ridge Parkway and other land protected by CTNC. The site contains all or part of two state-designated Natural Heritage Areas, with undisturbed native forests and more than seven miles of headwaters streams. CSX Railroad owns the property and CTNC holds a conservation easement on it.
