Milepost: 447 | County: Jackson | Acres: 21.34 | Hiking: No
The property conserves a portion of land at the headwaters of Woodfin Creek, upstream of Woodfin Falls. The property is visible from the Mt. Lyn Lowry Overlook at Parkway milepost 445. It was generously donated to CTNC. Adjacent to other properties protected by CTNC, the Woodfin Creek Headwaters tract contributes to the complex of land assembled around Waterrock Knob, a 5,000-acre recreation area near the south end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Elevations range from 4,840 to 5,060 feet and it contains pockets of spruce-fir forest, a rare native ecosystem in dire need of protection. The property will be donated to NPS for inclusion in the Blue Ridge Parkway.
